affective disorder
Means the same as "mood disorder"
akathisia
(ak-ah-theez-ee-ah) Extreme restlessness, which could include rocking from foot-to-foot, walking in place, pacing, or an inability to sit still.
amenorrhoea
(a-men-o-re-ah) Absence of menstrual periods. This can be a side effect of antipsychotic medications.
anhedonia
(a-men-o-re-ah) Not being able to enjoy things that normally give you pleasure.
anticonvulsant
Medication used for the treatment of seizures. Anticonvulsants can be used in the treatment of bipolar disorder.
antidepressant
Medication used to treat depression. Antidepressants are sometimes used in the treatment of bipolar disorder.
antipsychotic
(an-te-si-kot-ik) Medication used to treat psychosis, which is any major mental disorder that involves loss of contact with reality.
anxiety disorder
A variety of mental disorders in which severe anxiety is a main symptom and which may come on suddenly and prevent pursuing normal daily routines. It may be characterized by sweating, cardiac disturbances, diarrhea, or vertigo. Types of anxiety disorders include panic disorder, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder.
